Throughout the semester we will:
Develop a literary and historical understanding of literature, cultivate an appreciation for literature, understand how history and literature impact present-day culture, become more attentive readers, ask questions of texts, and sharpen critical thinking skills. By engaging in service learning, students will: gain learning experiences outside of the classroom, improve interpersonal skills, increase understanding of other cultures, apply literature and course content to community-related work, contribute to the community through student service, and, ultimately, develop a sense of civic responsibility.
